In most buildings, there will be two CAs per floor for first-year communities. The CA is an upperclass student who has gone through a several-week selection process as well as training within their position.

CA Staffs

Be a Resource for Residents

  • CAs are the first person you should go to for any situation.
  • They are prepared to help with transition issues like homesickness, help with locating things on campus, roommate issues and much more.
  • CAs will plan events and activities for the floor and help get you connected with the other students on your floor.
  • They will also confront inappropriate behavior to help the community be an orderly place to live and study.
  • The most important thing to remember about your CA is they are right there with you whether you are a returning student or a first-year student.

Position Requirements

  • Must plan to live on campus for full academic year 
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above (Or be a first year student with no college hours & GPA)
  • Be in good standing with the university
  • Weekend work hours required (every other weekend)

Pay Rate:
University Minimum Wage

Other Information:

  • For those hired for starting in fall, You will move into University Housing  early (August 13, 2024) Training will run August 13-15th.  (attendance at training is required) - For hires prior to August only.
  • New students (first year students) will be expected to participate in the UCM Kickoff Experience; work schedule will be planned for doing so.  (For hires prior to August only)

General Position Responsibilities

• Coordinate registration of conference groups.
• Assists with the preparation of conference meeting rooms if requested.
• Acts as a resource person, limit-setter, and referral agent to conference groups.
• Perform checks of guest rooms prior to arrival and after a group departs.
• Performs clerical duties as assigned by conference or housing staff.
• To be aware of emergency procedures and follow them accordingly.
• To report maintenance needs properly and follow up with maintenance concerns.
• To be responsible for distribution of refunds; receiving, sorting and distribution of U.S. and campus mail; checking out keys and key inventory; run errands; and provide other services as approved by University Housing.
• To assume other duties as assigned by University Housing.

Housing Staff

Compensation

  • $15/hr for all hours worked
  • double room waiver (optional) in Housing designated on-campus summer conference staff room/apartment. (Does not include the Crossing, Greenwood, Central Village) 

Work schedule and hours of work/week varies based on summer conference demands and schedules
